CREATIVE EXPLORERS DAY NURSERY

About Us

We are Proudly

Millie's Mark Accredited

We’re thrilled that Creative Explorers Day Nursery and Creative Explorers Preschool are 100% Millie’s Mark Accredited.

The Millie’s Mark award certifies that in a nursery (or in our case, in all our nurseries) all practitioners are fully trained in paediatric first aid and are confident enough to deliver first aid if they need to.

Millie’s Trust was set up by Joanne and Dan Thompson in 2012 after their nine month old daughter Millie tragically died from choking on food while at nursery. The organisation now campaigns to increase legal first aid requirements amongst childcare providers.

Millie’s Mark is delivered by Millie’s Trust in partnership with the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA), and supported by the Department for Education

The aim of Millie’s Mark is to keep children safe and minimise risk and accidents by:

  • Raising standards in paediatric first aid
  • Increasing numbers of paediatric first aid-trained practitioners
  • Increasing confidence and competencies in applying paediatric first aid – no matter what the situation
  • Enabling practitioners to respond quickly in emergencies
  • Raising the quality and skills of the early years workforce and helping them with day-to-day first aid issues, such as allergies
  • Providing reassurance to parents.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) guidelines only require one first aid trained practitioner to be on the nursery premises at any given time. However, we wanted to go above and beyond this requirement so our parents could have complete trust in us to keep their little ones safe and secure when they’re in our care. The Millie’s Mark award not only requires us to have 100% of our practitioners trained, but they need to be confident to deliver first aid too. As soon as we heard about the accreditation we couldn’t wait to be involved – to ensure that we were being held to the highest possible standard, to allow us to deliver the best possible care for our children.

Put simply this means you can be confident in our promise to take the best possible care of your little ones.

Our Ethos

At our day nurseries and preschool, we prioritise creating a positive and nurturing learning environment that fosters children’s interests and fascinations. We are committed to ensuring that children are provided with rich and varied opportunities that support their learning and development.

Our pedagogical approach is influenced by various theories and practices. We work using a combination of methods, which include practitioner-initiated group work, free choice play, sustained shared thinking, and creative exploration.

We aim to inspire children’s curiosity, by introducing new concepts and igniting their interest in the world around them. We strongly value diversity and strive to create excellent opportunities for children to learn about and appreciate different cultures and backgrounds. Our aim is to instil strong core values that our children can use throughout their lives in the communities they live.

Our highly trained and supportive staff serve as excellent role models, who exhibit and influence positive behaviour. Our practitioners have a wealth of personal experiences that have been influenced over the years by their own culture, belief, and traditions, which we value. It is these positive life experiences that we aim to collectively bring to our setting, for all to explore and learn.

We understand that children will have a range of interests and emerging knowledge that we can support and extend upon.  We believe in the importance of parent collaboration and involvement, and welcome any and all of their input.

Our unique and inviting learning environments are designed to keep children engaged, motivated, and challenged, whilst remembering the importance of their own personal experiences at home away from nursery.

Our educators prioritise getting to know each child individually and our key person approach is designed to foster secure attachments. Combined, this allows us to provide a wide range of experiences that cater to children’s individual needs.

Promoting the well-being of children in our nursery is a priority, especially given the rise of mental health issues among children in recent years. We ensure that each child in our care is happy, healthy, and thriving, by exploring our feelings together in a supportive manner.

At Creative Explorers we attune to the needs of each individual child by creating a safe space for children to process their emotions whilst feeling accepted and valued. We know that every child is unique and has their own set of experiences, therefore by providing them with adult support to label and understand these feelings, we are helping to cultivate empathy and emotional intelligence in the next generation.

We are highly ambitious in terms of what children can learn, understand, and achieve. We believe in a brighter future for our young Creative Explorers’ and through our shared learning and teachings we can achieve great things!
